A Client use of contract staff has shown itself to be a valuable tool in managing the balance between a varying workload and the availability of permanent staff to address workload demands.  Having a pool of temporary staff, acquired through a staff contracting mechanism, working in the Client’s environs, and supervised by Client’s permanent staff, provides an excellent resource to meeting staff overload conditions. 

CaMES has provided this service to many clients in the past 10 years including the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, the Portland Department of Transportation, the Portland Bureau of Water Works, the Port of Portland, Clean Water Services, and similar municipal organizations.  These same services have also been utilized by more than five private consulting firms in the Portland area.

This project experience has afforded CaMES a broad understanding of the demands of providing this service to our clients, and has helped us develop experience in recruiting, screening, and providing capable, willing staff and the best ways for monitoring their performance.
